Schools struggle to provide elementary students with a solid science foundation. Mostly, in the US, they fail. Evidence the NAEP scores which say that most US elementary school students are a year or so behind grade level by 4th grade.  The problem might have gotten worse due to the huge emphasis on meeting annual testing scores in math and reading.
But everyone knows and the NGSS and CCSS agrees that a cross cutting curriculum, not cut up artificially into distinct subjects, is best. This is the approach that Science4Us has taken. It allows busy teachers to deliver an exemplary science educational experience which builds math and language art skills by engaging students in applying them.

Science4Us focuses equally on teachers and students since particularly in the younger grades, they succeed together or not at all. Without the proper resources and support, teachers can struggle to provide a solid science foundation. The Science4Us curriculum includes embedded on-demand pedagogical and content training for teachers that does not require a large time commitment. Science4Us provides all of the support that teachers need to confidently and effectively lead exemplary science lessons, providing the science foundation that their students need. Science4Us does not require extensive preparation or training for the teachers.

The Science4Us curriculum is a complete, standards-based, core science curriculum that delivers digital and real-world science experiences to early elementary students. The efficacy of Science4Us has been established that it provides a positive effect on students’ conceptual and procedural knowledge as well as their motivation to learn.

Consistent with best practices and as prescribed by both Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core State Standards, Science4Us has a cross-curricular approach which uses broad cross cutting ideas as well as digital explorations and virtual investigations.

Development of Science4us began in August of 2010. After three years of research and development, was introduced at NSTA in San Antonio in April 2013.

In May of 2013, Science4Us was awarded a Dept of Education Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Phase I grant from Institute of Education Sciences for game-based learning to support the development and refinement of the project.

Also in 2013, Science4Us was evaluated by McREL, a nonprofit educational research and development corporation. The study revealed that students participating in Science4Us showed greater achievement in science than those engaged in traditional science instruction.
