Many parents wonder whether by middle school, their children's academic patterns
are set. Is it too late to change the path that they are on? If they have become
an uneven mediocre student, or worse, is there still something that can be done?
If you ask your child, they'll perhaps tell you that their schooling is none
of your business.
Let's be clear:
1. Your child's education is you, the parent's, responsibility. It is a partnership with your children but the parent's role as a full partner
and leader continues well beyond middle school.
2. Many middle school children change their learning patterns for the better in middle school. Some are sparked by
a parent's action, others by their own stimulation.
3. Parents have many more choices about how to help or intervene than might be
readily apparent.
